Meet the team: Dallas Racklin, CTB

AM Transport Services is a leading provider of outsourced logistics services for manufacturers and distributors in the midwest. But that’s not all we’re famous for. In fact, we like to brag a bit on our great team. The folks who work together in the AMT office are not just experts in all things logistics, but they’re a good-natured group of people who like to have fun. That’s why we thought it would be a good idea to introduce our team members in a series of blog profiles, we’re calling, “Meet the team!”

First up is Dallas Racklin. Dallas has been at AM Transport Services for a little over two years now. We asked him a few questions, so you can get to know him better.

Beer or wine?

BEER FOR SURE! MY BEER OF CHOICE IS BLUE MOON, BUT I’M NOT VERY PICKY AS LONG AS IT’S COLD AND IN MY HAND!

Skittles or M&Ms?

DEFINITELY SKITTLES.

What gadgets, apps, technology, etc. can you not live without at work?

I’D HAVE TO SAY MY LAPTOP, HEADSET, AND CAMERAS.

How did you end up working at AM Transport Services?

BEING IN LOGISTICS HAD NEVER CROSSED MY MIND. I WAS A MARKETING MAJOR IN COLLEGE. AFTER GRADUATION, I KNEW I WANTED TO WORK AT AMT BECAUSE OF THEIR LOCAL REPUTATION AS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK, BUT I DIDN’T REALLY UNDERSTAND THE SCOPE OF WHAT THE FOLKS DID HERE.

WHEN MY BOSS, DAVID, WAS GETTING SQUIRREL WORKS (WHICH IS THE MARKETING ARM OF AMT) OFF THE GROUND, HE ASKED ME TO COME ABOARD, AND I JUMPED AT THE OPPORTUNITY.

What do you do at AMT?

LIKE I SAID, I WORK FOR THE DIVISION OF AMT CALLED SQUIRREL WORKS. I’M PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE FOR HANDLING WEBSITE PROJECTS AND HELPING COMPANIES LIKE AMT WITH THEIR DIGITAL MARKETING.

What does a typical day at AMT look like for you?

MY TYPICAL DAY STARTS WHEN I CHECK IN ON ALL OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS I’M IN CHARGE OF. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I DON’T HAVE ANY URGENT MESSAGES TO GET TO. AFTER THAT, I CHAT WITH OUR DEVELOPERS TO GET UPDATES ON CURRENT PROJECTS. THEN I GET THEM GOING ON TASKS FOR THE DAY. I ALSO SPEND A GOOD AMOUNT OF TIME THINKING ABOUT NEW VIDEO AND AUDIO CONTENT IDEAS FOR AMT AND OUR OTHER CUSTOMERS AT SQUIRREL WORKS. I WORK ON SCOPING THESE IDEAS OUT AND THEN I DISCUSS WITH THE VIDEOGRAPHER TO CREATE, EDIT, AND PUBLISH THE CONTENT. ANALYTICS ARE IMPORTANT TOO. WE HAVE SEVERAL ONGOING MAINTENANCE ENGAGEMENTS WITH OTHER COMPANIES, SO I MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY ON THE VARIETY OF WEBSITES WE MAINTAIN.

So this is a strange question, but if someone gave you an elephant, what would you do with it?

I’D SELL MY 2004 HONDA ASAP. THEN I’D CRUISE AROUND OLNEY ON MY NEW ELEPHANT. I’D NAME HIM TIGER.
