Meet the Team: Chad Martin, CTB

Here at AM Transport Services, we like to brag a little about our great team. The folks who work together in the AMT office are the best logistics professionals you will find. But they’re also a lot of fun. That’s why we’re spending some time introducing each and every person on our team. You might know a few of them, but here’s your opportunity to get to know them all.

This week, we talked to Chad Martin. Chad has been a Carrier Manager at AM Transport Services for 4 years.

Favorite color?

BLUE

Beer or wine?

That’s tough. I drink more beer than wine, but I like both. My go-to beer is Bud Light, and I’ll drink any kind of wine.

Favorite sport?

My favorite sport to play is golf, and my favorite to watch is basketball. I try to play golf at least once a week, but some weeks I play twice or more. The Masters Tournament is my favorite tournament to watch. I like the NBA and have been to one game where the Pacers played the Cavaliers. I really don’t have a favorite team, but my favorite player to watch is Lebron James.

What music do you listen to in the car?

When I’m driving I am typically listening to rap or country. In rap music, I like Drake, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne. Country music performers I like are Florida Georgia Line, Cole Swindell, Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen.

It seems funny to like country and rap. What do you think about that?

I think it’s pretty common these days because music genres are blending together. I grew up in a small rural town, so I think that influences my enjoyment of country music too.

How do you recharge after a day at work?

I go to the gym.

Are you a reader?

I don’t read a lot, but I’ve been trying to read a little more. I’m currently reading Force of Nature by Laird Hamilton.

How did you end up working for AMT?

I learned about the company from a friend who interned here during college. I never really planned to move back to Olney where I grew up. I went to school in Evansville, Indiana, and wanted to stay there, but once I graduated and was offered the job at AMT, I felt it was best for me and my family to come home.

What does a typical day at work look like?

I’ve been a carrier manager for the past four years. Just recently, I began working in sales too. As a carrier manager I spend about half of my time maintaining relationships with carriers, providing updates on customer loads, finding capacity, and helping rate shipments for customers. So far I like working in sales although it’s taken me a little out of my comfort zone. It’s teaching me a new way to have conversations with people.

Thanks go Chad for being the second team member to answer questions for this new series! We’ll be back after Thanksgiving with a new installment of Meet the Team!
