Meet the Team: Sam Rodgers, CTB
Career, Carrier Manager, Customer Service, Meet the Team
Here at AMT, we are proud of the exceptional customer service we offer to both our customers and our carriers. But the truth is we owe it to the smart, committed professionals who make up our team. This week we sat down with Sam Rodgers and asked him a few questions. We think you’ll enjoy his profile.
How long have you been in transportation, and in particular, here at AM Transport?
I had some experience with operating over-the-road trucks with my family’s feed milling operation several years ago, but I would say I officially started in transportation when I started at AMT in 2016. I was looking for a change and several people recommended AMT to me.
What’s your favorite color?
As a kid, it was green. But I’d have to say I am an equal opportunity colorist at this point.
Skittles or M&Ms?
Mix them and watch the horror and chaos unfold.
Beer of wine?
Beer. Rob recently turned me onto Lawson’s Little Sip of Sunshine and it has been phenomenal.
Favorite Power Ranger?
Zordon. He is the real leader.
Do you have a super power?
I can binge watch shows with the best of them while still being a productive human being.
What are your thoughts on garden gnomes?
Have one on my desk actually. A Green Bay garden gnome named Pocket Dickens.
If someone gifted you an elephant, what would you do with it?
Militarize it. I am not sure anything would be more intimidating than a self-defense elephant.
Kids: Two daughters and myself.
What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you lately?
I accidentally had to shave my beard after taking a chunk of it out while trimming. It was super weird.
Favorite music? Show?
Music: Bluegrass covers of pop songs by The Cleverlys. LIFE . . . CHANGING . . .
Show: Supernatural. Sad that the end is coming this spring after 15 seasons.
Podcast? Sports team?
Podcasts: Joe Rogan, Cam Hanes, Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History
Sports team? Green Bay Packers
So, what do you think about when you are alone in the car?
Wide range of crazy going on with this. The worst part is that I find myself having two-sided conversations out loud when I am driving alone.
If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be?
I’d be a moose that lived deep in the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest. It’s risky to be the prey in the wild, but I’m not sure I would make a good wolf or bear, and a moose is big enough to be left pretty well alone.
What’s the best Christmas gift you ever received or gave?
Not a fan of institutional gift giving associated with holidays. I’d rather just give or receive the gift of time spent with people I care about.
What do you do at AMT?
I am a Carrier Rep. I source capacity and develop relationships with carriers that are a good fit with our team.
Any apps, gadgets, etc. that you can’t live without at work?
I need several things at the moment: laptop, phone, etc. But luckily, with the way we are set up now, no one item is completely necessary. Thankfully, we are set up to be nimble and capable all the time.
How do you recharge?
Go for a run. Tons of self-therapy sessions happen on the road.
What are you currently reading, or what book would you recommend?
Not currently reading anything but I’d recommend The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkel.
So leave us with the best advice you’ve ever been given.
I’m paraphrasing here, but here goes. Happiness in life doesn’t come from what you do, but rather how you do what you do and who you do it with.
Pretty good advice. Thanks Sam!
