Creative Solutions in Difficult Times: Covid-19
The global spread of Covid-19 affects every one of us. The rate of change caused by the virus upends our personal and professional lives in a myriad of ways. The truth is, when this began we didn’t think much about it. That’s not to say we weren’t worried about the folks infected with Covid-19, we were. But like most people, we just didn’t expect it to evolve into the worldwide crisis it has become.
Whether or not you believe Covid-19 to be a serious health risk or an exaggeration driven by a frenzied media–the crisis is real. The stock market has plummeted, big and small events have been cancelled, while universities and schools have cancelled classes for the foreseeable future, and small businesses and restaurants that rely on daily clientele are struggling if not closing due to state requirements. These closures will continue and will likely affect the livelihoods of a great number of our relatives and neighbors.
We, at AM Transport Services, are committed to the health and well-being of the folks we work with side-by-side. We will do whatever is needed to ensure this. At the same time, as a provider of outsourced logistics, we are determined to provide the same excellent service for both our customers and carriers who will need creative solutions to navigate uncertainty during the weeks and months ahead.
In difficult times, the best businesses find a way to provide even more value to those they serve, to perform at peak capacity. And that is what AM Transport promises to do. We know the closures, the travel limits, the enforced and voluntary quarantines will put a severe strain on our economy. Consumers will have less money in their pockets and many businesses will go the conservative route with spending. It is likely that some manufacturing plants will shut down.
Changes we cannot foresee will ripple across the supply chain in the days and months to come. Already, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued a national emergency order to suspend HOS regulations for commercial vehicle drivers hauling essential coronavirus equipment and supplies in all 50 states. In addition, many small business owners report negative effects from the coronavirus including slower sales and supply chain disruptions.
During times of great uncertainty, communication is of utmost importance, and we’re proud of our excellent communication skills which is not reliant on voicemail or automated telephone technology. We prefer to answer our own phones. In addition, we have invested in and implemented the best cloud-based technology in transportation today.
Here at AM Transport Services, we believe that in order to rise to this occasion we must look clear-eyed at the difficulties at hand–that means we don’t sweep challenges under the rug. In fact, we hold those challenges up to the light in order to create real and lasting solutions. We are committed to our customer and carrier partners who need realistic, proactive, and time-sensitive solutions to problems as they occur in real-time.
The next few months will require you to negotiate issues that arise because of the Coronavirus, and we’re here to bring solutions. Our team members are razor-focused on helping. Simply put, this crisis will make us better partners. We aren’t new to the world of supply chain chaos. With 30 years in the business, we understand and will navigate disruption to minimize its impact on you and your business. Because here at AMT, we’re not just a team, we’re a tight knit community committed to one another, our customers, and our carriers.
