Why Small Carriers Choose AM Transport Services

Small carriers work with AMT

AM Transport has been helping manufacturers and distributors in the midwest save money and time for the past 30 years. We’re not a big, flashy 3PL. We’re a small family owned business that likes to work with small-to-midsize carriers because they are consistent and reliable.

You might believe a big broker can offer you the best rates. But consider this. How many service failures do you or your customers experience a week? How much time do you spend tracking down shipments, waiting on hold, or getting paperwork together? The truth is that the extra time and money you spend on logistics aren’t included in that initial rate.

At AM Transport, we provide an honest and fair rate when you call, and then we stick to it because we have relationships with the best small-to-midsize carriers in the tri-state area. We care about our carriers, and that’s one of the reasons our customers are always working with the best in the business.

You won’t find these exceptional carriers when you work with large brokers because large brokers work with large carriers. The big guys stick together.

Why do small carriers work with AMT?

Quick Pay

We offer our carriers quick pay because we appreciate their hard work. Right now, drivers are on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic, and they deserve to be paid on-time and without hassle. And you know what? If you’re a shipper, our quick pay makes you look good too! It’s a win-win situation benefiting everyone involved. And, it’s the right thing to do.

Technology

Our technology is state-of-the art. In fact, we’ve spent the last 30 years, studying, investing in, and implementing the most relevant and hardworking technology in the transportation industry. We provide an online portal for logistics information from invoices and instant messaging to weather and reports.

Our TMS (transportation management system) is customizable, flexible, accessible, and secure. Providing the condition of any shipment along with the size, weight, cost, location, ETAs and temperature, it’s powered by Salesforce.

Customer Service

Technology is only as good as the folks who employ it. Our team members genuinely like the carriers and drivers we work with.

Case in point. COVID-19 has really done a number on truck drivers. Recently, Sam, one of our team members, was on the phone with a driver who was concerned about picking up a load because he would have to enter a small and crowded waiting area and use touch-screen kiosks. This driver was understandably nervous as he takes care of his aging mother on the weekends.

Because Sam really cares, he talked to the driver about his frustrations. Sam asked if the driver would feel better if he had a face mask because Sam could get him some. While the offer of the mask didn’t make this particular driver feel better, it wasn’t too long before the driver’s dispatch called Sam and told him that there were lots of other drivers who would appreciate some masks.

Sam, who had a box of 50 masks, delivered them right away.

This isn’t unusual for the team at AMT, it’s the norm. And small carriers appreciate these relationships. They also know that we answer our own phones 24/7/365 days a year. Drivers know that when there’s a problem, we are only a phone call away. Our team members thrive on creating solutions for the biggest challenges.

No one knows how long the pandemic will last, but it’s likely to change things for the near future. Now’s the time to rethink your logistics strategy. If you want to work with the best small carriers in the midwest, give us a call at AMT today.
