Truck Driver Appreciation Week!
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week has a new meaning this year. Truck drivers have shown unparalleled bravery, perseverance, and dedication to our country, and not only has our industry remained grateful for their hard work, but the American people have taken notice and are thanking these heroes.

3.5 Million Professional Truck Drivers
Did you know that there are almost 3.5 million professional truck drivers in the United States. These hard-working men and women have been at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic delivering essential goods during this unprecedented crisis. When so many folks were sent home to work remotely, truck drivers were counted on to keep the economy afloat.
It’s impossible to overestimate the necessity of the trucking industry with 71% of all American freight tonnage moved by trucks. Think about it, 80% of communities in the United States depend solely on trucking for delivery of their goods and commodities. We would be out of luck if truck drivers weren’t so committed to their work.
That’s why National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is so important this year. Held from September 13-September 19, this year’s celebration in honor of truck drivers takes into account their crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Small Carriers, Committed, Safe Drivers
Here at AM Transport, we work with the best small carriers and the best drivers in the industry. That’s why we thank drivers every day for their dedication. We know that the average truck driver age is 55 years old. And that means many of our best drivers are zooming towards retirement. The American Trucking Associations estimates that by 2026, we’ll be short about 175,000 drivers. Now, more than ever, it’s imperative that we take care of the drivers we have and make sure that truck driving is seen as an excellent choice for young people looking for a lifelong career.
Thank a Driver
If you see a driver next week (or any time), make sure you say thanks. It’s up to all of us to make sure these important, hardworking drivers understand how much we appreciate them.
