Are you worried about carrier selection?

The art of listening.

The folks in our sales department are great listeners. And that’s a big deal because when you think about it, how often does your freight broker really listen?

According to Kate Murphy in You’re Not Listening, “Listening is active. The best listeners focus their attention and recruit other senses to the effort. Their brains work hard to process all that incoming information and find meaning, which opens the door to creativity, empathy, insight, and knowledge. Understanding is the goal of listening, and it takes effort.”

Listening takes time. And if you’re like most manufacturers and distributors in the midwest, you’ve been working with brokers or carriers who aren’t listening because it takes time. And that means, they don’t know you, your business, or your unique needs.

What listening looks like in the logistics industry.

Recently, one of our SDRs, Hannah, was talking with a new customer, let’s call him Sam, about the great carriers we work with. During the conversation, Hannah realized that Sam was tired of working with shoddy carriers. In fact, this Sam didn’t like working with brokers because the brokers he worked with in the past did a terrible job vetting carriers.

Hannah was able to commiserate a bit with Sam. You see, we’re a freight broker in a fickle industry. And we understand that with 17,000 brokers out there, it’s pretty hard to find one like AM Transport. You see, we do things a little differently.

We listen.

We’re hitting this point hard because it matters–especially in the area of carrier selection. If all brokers aren’t created equally, the same thing goes for freight. Your freight is unique. And we want to know about it because we have access to over 10,000 small to midsize carriers, and we want to make sure we match you with the carriers best suited for your needs.

Lots of brokers will post your loads hoping for a quick fix, but that’s not how we do it. Because we have real relationships with reliable, consistent, safe, and on-time carriers, we don’t have to post your loads. We don’t have to vet carriers at the last minute in order to cover your freight. The carriers we work with are people we have long-term relationships with. And we trust them.

You see, we’re not like lots of brokers. For starters, we’ve been helping companies like yours move their freight for over 30 years. The average tenure of our carrier representatives and our customer service folks is 7 years. Our team is a highly-trained group of professional logisticians committed to saving you both time and money while providing you with the best service available.

We don’t cut corners. We don’t have voicemail. We don’t work with carriers we don’t know. Our vetting process is detailed and comprehensive. When you work with us, you work with the best small carriers–that’s a promise we keep.
