Need a gift for someone special? Look no further!
Better to give than receive.
We’ve all heard the saying, Money doesn’t buy happiness. But in some cases it might. But only if you’re spending that money on someone other than yourself. Yes, it truly is better to give than receive. In fact, researchers from the Harvard Business School found that while making more money might lift your spirits a tiny bit, spending that money on others or on charity is the best way to boost your happiness regardless of your income.
So here we are at Christmas, and while I love getting presents (I mean who doesn’t) it’s also the best time to do a little giving! And if it boosts our happiness level, well that’s a built-in bonus.
So if you are looking to give someone special a great gift this year, look no further. The gang at AMT has come up with a list of terrific gifts that will put joy in the hearts of you and those on your gift list!
Gifts You’ll Love to Give
Jakob Boulb
Probably one of the BEST gifts to get anyone is Tupperware. It’s inexpensive if you get a big set on Friday!
Dallas Racklin
I got a smart charger similar to this NOCO GENIUS5 last Christmas and have used the crap out of it. I’ve used mine to jump-start my mower and my car. I’ve used it to charge my phone, PlayStation controller, and I’ve even used it as a flashlight, lol. It’s a very versatile tool!

Costco Membership: Best store ever.
Electric Bidet: Life-changing.
Joe Eagleson
Electric Bidet: More life-changing than Costco membership.
Costco Membership: It is the Target to Walmart’s Sam’s Club.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia complete boxed set.
Laura Matthews
If you don’t have an air fryer/instant pot combo, I highly recommend it. We use at least one of them almost every day if not multiple times a day. If you get the combo, you have two different lids instead of two different appliances taking up space.
I like the Instant Pot pressure cooker/air fryer combo.
John McKinney
An autographed picture of Ric Flair is a great gift.
Rowdy: The Roddy Piper Story is a terrific book for the book lovers on your list.
Rob McClain
The Ninja Foodi 9-in-1 Pressure Cooker/Air Fryer kind of changed my life in 2020.
Hannah Thomas
A signed picture of Coach K is always a good choice!
David Abell
I would recommend that everyone read and gift The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. It can be a little dense but contains more wisdom than a college degree.
Also, Etsy.com is pretty freaking cool. It’s my go-to place if I want to get a personal type of gift. I’ve bought everything from jewelry and home decor to a custom leather gun holster. Plus I feel a little better about myself knowing I’m supporting an individual entrepreneur.
Zac Egleston
A 6 pack of whatever Christmas Ale you can find at your local liquor store is always a pretty solid and simple gift.
Sam Rodgers
We have been getting my mom a photography session with the grandkids for the last few years, and she really enjoys that.
Michael McKinney
One Line a Day. I received one of these last year, so will be finishing year one soon. I’m excited to start year two to see what event or thought occurred the prior year.
The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman. An entry to read each day that teaches you a bit about Stoic philosophy and how to apply it to your life.
A subscription to a meditation app. I use Waking Up. Headspace and Calm are a couple of other popular apps as well. If you know someone who is interested in giving meditation a try, this could be a great gift.

An Amazon gift card always seems to work!

If you’re a fan of sports, a subscription to The Athletic is a must. An annual subscription is $60.00 (billed monthly at $4.99), but the in-depth content is well worth the cost.
I’m also a bit obsessed with the University of Illinois’ football and basketball teams, and I want to know more about them and the players they are actively recruiting. If you’re like me and always looking for quality content, a subscription to the Illini Inquirer is a no brainer.
Still looking for ideas? I have a few recommendations of my own.
Independent book sellers often have great deals around the holidays.
Parnassus Books in Nashville is selling Holiday Book Bundles–they have pre-curated bundles and customized bundles for a variety of prizes and surprises!
Or check out Brilliant Books located in Traverse City, Michigan. They have a great Holiday Gift Catalog and also offer a monthly book subscription (I subscribe, and the titles are fabulous).
Need books for the little ones? Powell’s City of Books has a picture book subscription club called BOOX. The little book lovers receive a box of books every 8 weeks. I signed my grandkids up, and they have been very happy with the books they receive.
If you don’t want to go the book route, you might try out Buddha Pants. If you haven’t experienced their dropped crotch pants (I’m a big fan of the flower harem pants), you are missing out. They are comfort supreme. But they have lots of other great items like face masks, bandanas, wrap bracelets and more.
Finally, if you’re thinking art or cards with meaning, I encourage you to check out Flying Edna by artist Brian Andreas. I love the classic Story People prints, but there is so much more to find from note cards and calendars to story blocks.
2020 has been a rough year, but if giving is better than receiving, we all have a chance to end on a high note. Let us know if you decide to use our recommendations or if you have some of your own!
