Meet the Team: Kelsie Barnes

What do you think about when you’re alone, driving in your car?
I go through my grocery list or to-do list. It is rare that I have time to sit and think.
If you could be any animal in the world what would you pick?
I would be a dolphin. They get to swim and are social creatures.
Best Christmas gift given and/or received?
My brother and I got a four-wheeler when I was in the second grade. Last year, we got our families vacations for Christmas.
What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you recently?
With a kid, funny things tend to happen every day. I love to laugh, and it is important to find humor in everyday life.
Married, kids, significant other?
I married my high school sweetheart. We’ve been together for eleven years, married for four. We have one son, Carson, who is two-years-old.
If someone gifted you an elephant, what would you do?
LOVE IT! I absolutely love elephants. I would probably keep it in my backyard.
What are your thoughts on garden gnomes?
I have one. It’s neon yellow.
What’s your superpower?
I can befriend almost anyone. I talk a lot and make friends very easily.
So you’ve only been here a couple of weeks, but is there anything, an app, gadget, etc., you can’t live without?
A notebook and a pen.
How do you recharge after a long day or week at work?
I like to go to the gym, read, and spend time with people. I like to travel when I have the time. I also like to participate in retail therapy. Baths are also great for unwinding.
What are you currently reading, or what books or television shows do you recommend?
I used to work in a movie store, so I have always loved TV and movies. I cannot pick just one. I worked from home previously and binge-watched everything on my list. I have also read a lot this year. My tastes range from romance to true crime to nonfiction.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
The decisions we make will rarely be discussed 30 years from now. If you work hard, the present decisions will impact the future in a positive way and be a way of life for other generations. Don’t live in the negativity and focus on the way YOU make a positive impact. –Chris Simpson, 2021
