Meet the team: Donna Martin

It’s Wednesday, and it’s time to meet the newest member of the AM Transport team. Donna Martin came on board about two weeks ago, and we’re so happy to welcome her.

Donna, what did you do before coming to AM Transport Services?

I worked as a cosmetologist for almost 16 years. And I think there are similarities between the two jobs. Both jobs involve customer service and building relationships. I have never worked in transportation before, so that part is completely different from doing hair!

How did you end up at AMT?

I came here with the desire to challenge myself by going completely out of my comfort zone. I’m eager to learn new things and meet new people!

What job will you be doing with AM Transport?

I will be part of the customer service team which involves building and maintaining relationships with clients and assisting them with any issues/needs that might arise.

Favorites!

Beer or wine? Neither. Hard ciders or mixed drinks are the way to go!

Favorite beer or wine? Beer: Blue Moon. Wine: Purple Toad Winery’s Black & Bruised

Skittles or M&Ms? Crispy M&Ms

Music? The Steel Woods, Tyler Childers, Morgan Wallen, Whiskey Myers

Television show? My kids and husband always control the TV, so I don’t get a chance to have a favorite! Most often we are watching Supercross, YouTube, or Paw Patrol.

Movie? Pride and Prejudice. This is also my favorite book.

Favorite performer? Hands down, The Steel Woods! If you’ve never seen them in-person, it’s a must!

Podcast? Never been into a podcast.

Sport? Dirt track racing.

Sports team? St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas Jayhawks

Color? Green

Power Ranger? I used to dream of being Pink Power Ranger, Kimberly Hart, when I grew up!

What do you think about when you are alone in the car?

I’m a busy mom, so I usually have a million thoughts of what I’ll need to do for the day to feel like I’ve accomplished something.

If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be?

I think I’d be a llama. They live a pretty long time, get groomed regularly, and it’s socially acceptable for them to spit at or on people they don’t like.

What’s the best Christmas present you’ve ever given or received.

I’m going to turn this around and answer with the worst gift I’ve ever received. My husband Jacob gave me a muffin pan one year for Christmas. The very next year, he gave me another because he’d forgotten about the previous one. I should also mention that I already owned 2 muffin pans, so now I have four. Hit me up if you need a muffin pan! The best gift I ever gave is hard to narrow down. I’m a very thoughtful person.

What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?

Pretty much any big word my three-year-old tries to say. He pronounces squirrel as squirddle! He is the enternainer of the household.

What’s your family like?

I’ve been married to my husband Jacob for 12 years. We have three children: Brady: 10, Delaney: 8, and Denny: 3.

If someone gifted you an elephant what would you do with it?

I would sell it. I don’t have time or space for that, and my house is pretty much already a zoo.

What are your thoughts on garden gnomes?

They don’t bother me, but I also wouldn’t go out of my way to own any.

What’s your superpower?

I can watch my kids and predict all the messes they will make before they even happen.

Anything at work you can’t do without yet?

My laptop, my teammates, and Google.

How do you recharge after a long day or week at work?

I enjoy sitting outside and having some drinks with my husband while the kids play in the yard. I also enjoy fishing and riding bikes with my family.

What are you currently reading? And if not reading, what shows are you watching or recommend?

I’m not currently reading anything, but I do love to read when I can find the time. I really enjoy watching Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and Bridgerton on Netflix.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

When I was a kid my Dad always said, “Be true to your teeth, or they’ll be false to you.” I always thought it was funny, but true.
