Premier Prize Profile: Sam Rodgers
Meet the Team, Uncategorized
Each month, the team at AM Transport awards our Premier Prize to one employee who exemplifies the values we hold dear. Our core values have evolved over time. After all, we’ve been in business for 33 years. And we’re so proud that over those 33 years, we’ve operated with integrity and commitment to providing exceptional service to both our customers and our carriers.
The Premier Prize is our opportunity to think about our core values and how they play out, day-to-day, in our office. So what are those values?
First, here at AMT, we’re willing to take out the trash. In a nutshell, that means we think in terms of “we” rather than in terms of “I.” We’re not worried about what the job is (if the trash needs to be taken out, that’s the job), we’re ready and willing to do it!
That leads right into our next value which is we’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done. We don’t shy away from difficulties or challenges; in fact, we view them as an opportunity to show our unique capabilities. We leave nothing unfinished.
And that makes us positively charged. We approach each and every day with a positive outlook and high energy. We like making a positive impact on one another, on our customers and on our carriers. We enjoy our work and each other.
Finally, we know that through it all, we’re better together. You can’t visit our office without being inspired by the energy. We firmly believe that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” And each day we prove it with the exemplary work we do together.
So each month, we take a few minutes and think about the people in our office who have specifically exhibited these traits during the past 30 days, and we nominate them for the Premier Prize. Then we have a duck race. Yes, that’s right–a duck race. Everyone who is nominated gets a duck in the race (some people have more than one duck). It’s a digital duck race, and it’s fun to watch the ducks vie for the winning spot. In May, the duck race and the Premier Prize were won by Sam Rodgers. Sam is a carrier representative, and he’s been at AM Transport Services for 6 years, and in recognition of his status as May’s Premier Prize winner, we asked him a few profile questions. He’s got a sense of humor as you will see.
My most enjoyable moments on the job are when. . . there is left over pasta salad because it’s good for ten days!
Something I’m passionate about is . . . not wasting pasta salad by throwing it away after 6.5 days.
My favorite subject in school was . . . lunch. There was pasta sometimes.
My favorite AMT activity is . . . cookouts where there’s leftover pasta salad because I don’t have to plan my lunches for the following ten days. Unless, of course, someone prematurely throws it away at 6.5 days.
One of my favorite things to do on my time off is . . . run or ride my bike. I get to burn enough calories to enjoy some more pasta salad.
If I could live anywhere in the world, I’d live in . . .Italy because that’s where pasta salad comes from.
If I weren’t a freight broker, I would be . . . awesome still. Because I’m awesome.
So congratulations Sam on your duck race and Premier Prize win. Hope there is some pasta salad in your near future!
