Who Answers the Phone when You Call?

Automated Answering Services and/or Voicemail

How often do you call a business and get a real person on the phone?

If you’re like most of us, you’re probably not sure.

Think about it, when was the last time you called your veterinarian, your doctor, your cable provider, the phone company, or your local drug store and a real, live person working in that location answered your call?

And why?

From a business perspective, It’s easy to explain why so many businesses use answering services and voicemail. Businesses are constantly thinking about and striving towards efficiency. They work hard not to miss important phone calls. The impulse is to process as many phone calls as possible. Processing, however, is not the same thing as answering. Processing is about optimization, customization, and volume, volume, volume.

But customers don’t really want to be processed. When you pick up the phone, you want to talk to someone. And when you punch your way through a detailed phone tree in the hopes you’ll reach a real person, and end up getting someone’s voicemail, you feel frustrated. You’ve wasted at least five minutes (or 10, 20, or even 30 minutes) and are no closer to an answer than when you first dialed that number. You might just throw your phone across the room if it weren’t so darned expensive.

We answer our own phones.

Here at AM Transport Services, we understand how customers and carriers feel when they can’t reach a real person on the phone. That’s why we answer our own phones. Sure, it takes a little juggling. We’re a small and agile team working out of one office in southern Illinois, and our phones ring off the hook because we’re busy helping folks like you get your freight on the road and delivered on time.

Here’s where we’re different. We know that you’re busy too. And when you pick up the phone and call us, you want to talk to a person. And we want to be that person. It doesn’t matter what you want–if you want load status, a PO number, or just have a random question–we’re here to help, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

If your logistics provider doesn’t answer their own phones, you’re missing out. On the peace of mind you get working with a broker whose main focus is your success.
