Meet the Team: Bruce Johnson
We’ve got a new kid on the block, and his name is Bruce Johnson. Bruce started here at AMT in Sales way back in April. When I asked him how he ended up here, he said, “It’s been a very long journey, and an even longer story. I’m just happy to be home.” We’re happy to have him on board and excited to introduce him to you!
What did you do before you started at AMT? I was doing cellular device sales for Verizon. I’ve never worked in transportation before, but I’ve already learned so much, and I feel like I’m just scratching the surface.
Favorites Fast Round
Beer or Wine? Depends on what I’m drinking.
Favorite beer or wine? Ummmm . . . an open one?
Skittles or M&Ms? Yuck! Starburst!
Music? Heavy Metal all the way!
Television show? Too many to list here, but my favorite genres are Sci-Fi and Horror.
Movie? Star Wars
Favorite performer? Corey Taylor
Podcast? I don’t really have a lot of extra time to listen to these.
Sport? Hockey . . . OH, and Fishing!
Sports team? Go Bruins!
Color? Camouflage
Power Ranger? Tommy . . . RIP.
What are you thinking about when you’re driving alone in your car? I’m too busy headbanging and yelling at other drivers to have a coherent thought.
If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be? I think being an owl would be pretty cool. My eyesight would be better; plus, I’d be able to fly.
Best Christmas gift you ever received or gave? I got a forged knife set one year for Christmas . . . that was pretty awesome. The best gift I ever gave was probably either my son’s Xbox or my brother’s Michael Jordan rookie card.
What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you lately? My granddaughter farted in my face when I was tickling her.
Married? Kids? Significant other? I’m very happily engaged to the most wonderful woman! Both of our kids are grown. But she has two daughters and I have one son. We also have two granddaughters.
If someone gifted you an elephant, what would you do with it? I’d probably find a way to get it back to its natural habitat. I don’t think there’s much room in Olney for an elephant.
What are your thoughts on garden gnomes? They’re currently being eaten by my zombie T-Rex.
What’s your superpower? I have the insight of a Jedi and can read people really well.
What apps, gadgets, etc. can you not live without at work? I can’t live without the laptop, the wireless mouse, and the really nice coffee pot!
How do you recharge after a long day or week at work? I’m always doing something in my off-time . . . from BBQ, to forging knives, to playing D&D, to making music or photography, to brainstorming the book I’ve been planning for a while, and recently I took up golf.
What are you currently reading or what television shows do you recommend? I’m currently watching Critical Role’s The Legend of Vox Machina.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? Don’t worry about things you cannot control; worry about what you can control and you’ll be a much happier person. Years ago, an old sales manager, a former Navy guy like myself, told me this during one of those random conversation moments that’s stuck with me. Last year, he swam all the way across the Chesapeake Bay to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.
