Who’s more important–the customer or the carrier?

 

What would you think if we said–neither one?  

 

Most of the time, businesses are expected to be customer-focused, and here at AM Transport, we’re no different. Our customers, typically manufacturers and distributors that need to get their products from one location to the next at a reasonable and reliable rate, are the prime reason we are in business. After all, that’s what we do–find the right carrier for each shipment, schedule transportation, and ensure timely pickup and delivery.

So it would follow that the customer is the most important factor in any equation, but that’s not how it works here at AMT. Because without our core group of carriers, we couldn’t do a lot of things our customers count on.

Let’s take redundancy, for example. If you’re a manufacturer and you are working with only one major carrier, what happens when that carrier shuts down for some reason? When you work with AMT, our focus on carriers and their importance in the supply chain (you can’t deliver without them) ensures the redundancy you need to keep your supply chain moving even in times of upheaval.

Here’s the great thing about this example–it works in the opposite direction. Our good customers make a carriers’ business that much stronger. When carriers move only for one or two businesses, you know what happens when that business shuts down. Recently, this happened during the pandemic. So many manufacturers shut down, and the carriers who relied on those manufacturers ended up in dire straits. But when carriers work with AMT, they reap the benefits of great customers with even better freight.
